Most watches have a second hand that revolves once around the dial every minute. But the Flying Back Automatic features not one but two dials that serve the same purpose. One dial ticks off the first half-minute, then flies back to zero while the other dial ticks off the final 30 seconds before flying back. This innovation was unique to some of the most expensive watches in the world. One such maker, Piaget, charges upwards of $70,000 for a timepiece with this amazing function. Now, thanks to Steinhausen engineers' mastery of this Swiss design, it's yours for as little as $249.95. Not only that, but with the Flying Back Automatic, you get all the benefits of an automatic watch: no winding and no batteries. It keeps time with your kinetic movement. Plus, there's a third dial for you to keep time in another time zone, so now you can know what time it is back home when you're across the globe on that exotic vacation you have always wanted to take. The Flying Back Automatic comes with one of the finest sapphires from Thailand on the crown and two easy-to-change imitation alligator leather bands: black and burgundy. French architect Pascal Zamur designed the watch's body to resemble the Roman Colosseum, and setting the time has never been easier. Just pull out the crown and turn one way to set the main dial and turn the other way to set the secondary dial. | | | |

Steinhausen watch - flying Back-Dual time (+ Tourbillon) Nov 01, 2007 Steinhausen Flying Back (Owned 1 month). Neat looking watch although bulkier than I expected from dimensions given. Cheap strap. Keeps OK time and Flying Back second hands work as described. Absolute minimum instructions do not even advise that crown needs to be unscrewed before either winding or time adjustment. Also simple dual time adjustment requires a little practice to get right. Overall, can't beat the value and I got a better watch than I expected for $120. Note that although Steinhausen throws around 'Swiss design, Swiss tradition etc'. in their advertising to give the idea you are buying a swiss watch, be very clear: STEINHAUSENS ARE CHINESE WATCHES. IT SAYS SO ON THE CASE - CHINESE MOVEMENT (SWISS DESIGN), CHINESE CASE. IT EVEN HAS CHINA STAMPED ON THE STRAP. I don't remember any mention of China in their sales blurb.

Steinhausen Tourbillon (Owned 2 months)Steinhausen Tourbillon Mechanical Watch-Silver. Nice face but strap lugs angle straight out so that it needs a good sized wrist to sit right as it has no 'curve'. Terrible time keeper. Gains 40-60 seconds a day. A Tourbillon only has an effect on an already highly accurate watch. In this case it is a nice adornment but unless I can get it adjusted to keep better time it is just that. Claim of the most accurate watch in the world is a bit laughable. Despite verbal statement from steinhausen seller and written guarantee accompanying watch, this is NOT an automatic watch and requires winding every day. Two quality deployant straps included. Was going to return as not automatic, but kept for novelty value and, in my view, good looks.
